A "let's make all the wrong decisions" - type day. Parked in the Sandbanks car park & wandered off to the beach. Mike Pringuer phoned to say that an attendant was about to put a ticket on my car: Turns out trailers aren't allowed in this car park anymore. Funny that they watched me drive in & buy a pay & display ticket without saying anything.

Luckily - as the place was almost full by now - I managed to park on the roadside about 200m N - directly opposite a track leading to the beach, just by the most S apartment block.

Was going to sail Sandbanks with Mike (not arranged, just bumped into me there!). The wind on the beach was almost directly cross shore from L (fractionally cross-on), and seemed to be anything from F3-F7. As I umm'ed and ahh'ed the wind seemed to drop a little so I eventually decided on the Cross with 6.2 Tush. Big mistake! By the time I was rigged up & lugged my gear over to the beach, others were saying they were overpowered with 5.0m sails.

Too lazy to rerig both board AND sail, I decided to sail the harbour side, where Tony Low was (with son & son's friend).

In short, it was crap. Gusty as hell - struggling to keep wobbling in no wind when you're suddenly hit by a F6 gust with a 45 degree wind shift and totally overpowered.

To cap it all, managed to pop the 2 batten-end reinforcers on the luff tube.

Not a totally wasted trip, but not a good day.
